In our last article we talked about the importance of hydration both during pregnancy and during lactation, and in this sense we think it is good time to return, once again, the theme of breastfeeding, focusing on the ways and techniques breastfeeding.
First, note that the breastfeeding position is the main thing to feed the baby a success. Proper feeding is where the chest and the baby fit exactly. Proper feeding includes the nipple and areola.
If the baby sucks the nipple is only likely to go hungry because they are not compressing the glands that secrete milk. We must ensure that our baby is sucking in the right place and not in any other part of breast.
The forms and techniques for breastfeeding can be divided into several phases; first we will have a preparation phase. When the mother fined a comfortable position, you should gently touch the child’s mouth with your nipple until it is quite open, like a yawn.
This precaution serves to avoid lip fold higher during feeding. Once the child gets used to eating everything will be easier, since the mere fact of feeling and smell of breast milk that will turn toward the nipple.
The second phase will be referred to as the seal the deal. When the baby’s mouth is wide open, she should bring the baby, should not lead to the child’s chest nor push the baby’s head to his chest. You have to let the child take the lead.
As for the third phase of the methods and techniques for feeding a baby is a review phase, namely milk review to ensure that the baby is not sucking your own lip. There is even the possibility that it is sucking the tongue.
In this case you must stop taking one finger and remove the nipple and remove the tongue before continuing. If you feel nipple pain while breastfeeding, it is best to remove the child’s chest and putting it back again, also when the baby hears strange noises during shooting.
There is yet a fourth phase in the forms of breastfeeding which is what we would call withdrawal phase and is basically gently removed. When shooting is finished you should not leave the baby in the chest but it must be removed to prevent damage to the nipple.
Within the methods and techniques for feeding a baby, and specifically with regard to the latter, we can say that the most common is the “basic position”, which is to put the baby on his side, facing the nipple. The baby’s body should be facing towards mum.
A second technique is that we can call in a cross. This is the baby’s head with the opposite hand grabs the breast milk they give, i.e., if the right breast breastfeeding, you should hold the baby’s head with his left hand.
Finally we will appoint yet another technique that is known as football. This is very useful for those moms who have had a cesarean delivery because it will prevent the baby are placed against the abdomen. Indeed is situated in a semi sitting position.
